Signs of a Gout attack

The uric acid crystals that cause gout will have been building up in your joints for years before they cause your first actual attack of gout. You may not even realize that the aches and pains are not just normal aging pains until you have a full blown gout attack.

The most common types of symptoms that a person will suffer from when they have gout are as follows:-

1. The most common form of gout starts as what is known as podagra usually. This refers to pain in the big toe joint when it is inflamed from the build up of uric acid.

2. Nighttime can often be the first time you notice the intent pain that gout can give you from even the light pressure of a bed sheet.

3. Many people who suffer from gout find that when an attack occurs the discomfort that they feel comes on very rapidly and may last for a few hours during the night. But then the discomfort that they are feeling will slowly begin to ease once more over the following 2 to 7 days.

4. When the gout attack actually begins to subside then...

What You Don't Know About Arthritis May Kill You!

Arthritis is a disease of the musculoskeletal system and the damage to the joints can be bad as time goes by, accompanied by swelling and pain. Cartilage is a dense, living, tissue covering the ends of bones, protecting them from abrasion as the joint bones rub against each other. The cells or chondrocytes which cartilage is made up of are similar to the ones in the other glands in the human body. Like in the case of all living cells, chondrocytes die and are replaced. The swelling damages cartilage cells faster than the body can re-generate and this cause problems. You will find this especially true if an injury has occurred or if there aren't enough of the necessary nutrients within the body to repair the joint. Instability, joint weakness and deformities can be caused by this condition which will start affecting normal day to day activities. Generally, arthritis can be treated with physical therapy, medication, and changes to the lifestyle the individual is used to living. The last option left for the physicians to relieve the patients from discomfort is joint replacement surgery. Arthritis is divided into two main categories, i.e. localized and generalized depending on areas affected; it...

A Quick Cure For Gout
By Mark John

The following methods of treatment for gout are based on personal experience and research only, theses practices are provided to help and advise sufferers of gout and are intended for information purposes only. The following methods are not intended as a substitute for professional medical advice, one should always consult one's doctor prior to using any alternative or complimentary methods of treatment. The Quickest way I found to relieve gout attacks; Take your prescribed medicine for treating your gout attacks, usually NSAID. If your doctor is unavailable, or the attack begins out of hours, use an over-the-counter NSAID such as Ibuprofen . Recommended dosage for treating acute gout attacks. Ibuprofen (OTC) 800 mg 4 times a day, or Reduce the dosage as the attack subsides. See your doctor as soon as possible for a steroid or non-steroidal injection, to quickly reduce the pain. Remove clothing from the affected area and avoid any pressure on the joint. Quickly apply an anesthetic spray, or lotion to the affected area, which will help to numb the pain. Don't use aspirin as it can worsen the gout attack. Avoid alcohol, acidic foods and drinks, fizzy drinks, orange juice, tomatoes, citrus fruit, red meat as they will all worsen and prolong gout attacks. Consume at least 2 liters of mineral water every day. Alkalize the body and increase the blood PH level to around 7, do this by mixing half a teaspoon of baking soda to a medium sized glass of mineral water and drink every 4 hours up to a maximum of 4 glasses per day. Baking soda, is the quickest way of alkalizing your body and also accelerates the urinary excretion of excess uric acid. Baking soda is also known to increases the effectiveness of NSAIDs. Avoid using any other forms of salt while using baking soda due to its high sodium content. Remember to always seek your doctor's approval before trying this (get your doctor's advice in advance of using BS, just to be on the safe side). You can use an ice pack or just plain ice to cool the effected joint & reduce swelling and pain, rub the ice gently over the affected area for ten minutes or so. Rest until the attack has subsided. Find out as much as you can about your gout condition to prevent and treat future attacks. Be prepared, gout often starts without warning. These methods are designed to tackle an acute and unbearable attack and are not the best way of treating and preventing gout in the long term For a sustainable long term way of relieving your gout & arthritis pain, quickly & without drugs,

Is Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis Old Peoples Disease Being Caught

We all know that arthritis, inflammation of bone joints, is normally associated with an illness affecting people over the age of 50. Therefore it will come as a massive surprise to parents when their children are diagnosed with it. Even more surprising is the fact that approximately 300,000 children in the United States alone have some form of arthritis, and that we the public are totally unaware of this fact. The most common form of arthritis affecting children is named juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, affecting about 20% of those 300,000 children, and all parents should be educated on this debilitating disease in children. Doctors are not yet entirely sure what causes juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, but they believe that it is linked to autoimmune diseases, where white blood cells are unable to differentiate between normal and foreign cells. The Familiar Symptoms Infact, Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis is the most common type of arthritis affecting around 60,000 children. Unfortunately, doctors are not yet certain as to what causes juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, however, there are indications that it is associated with the autoimmune system, where white blood cells are unable to differentiate between normal and foreign cells. Although being dissimilar to the adult form of...

Arthritis of the Knee : Osteoarthritis

Arthritis, which is a condition that affects one in three adult Americans, is one that affects the bone joints in the body. Because there is no cure, many sufferers are forced to cope with it's painful effects. Arthritis in the knee is one of the common ailments and can make it difficult to walk, bend the leg or even sleep at night. Osteoarthritis is often the result of increased strain on the joint due to weight, or repeated injury or damage. Knee arthritis is definitely more common in middle aged to elderly persons. A younger sufferer of knee arthritis has usually inherited the condition- it does have a genetic disposition, or it can be the after affect of a serious knee injury- more common in sports men- specifically footballers. Rheumatoid arthritis is more common in younger people for this reason. Unfortunately, the condition can get worse if it is not treated. A funny thing about arthritis in knee is that you don't experience the pain all the times. Some months you can be free of pain depending on the weather. As the weather changes, arthritis in the knee often worsens due to the fact that affected joints are believed to...
